Yesterday I found an e-mail from American Airlines in my mailbox to tell me my demand was completed.
Flight AAsomething was booked for january 26th and in cost me $352 and....
And I stressed excessively o_0;
I had an inkling this was a fraudulent mail but it all seemed so real! What if someone had hacked my credit card and- Stress, I tell you. I did not open the attachment and started my investigation on the net. On the site of American Airlines they warned for this kind of mails *hesitant sigh of relief* They offered the possibility to forward the strange mail so I did that (I was not completely sure at that moment)
This morning I found a mail from the real American Airlines to confirm my suspicions. I was right not to have opened the attachment because it may have contained a virus.
I'm finally at ease. It's stupid I know, it was ever so obvious a fake but still D8
Something entirely different,
The local agent dropped by this morning to confirm I'm actually living here TT;
So this afternoon I can go have my identity card adjusted :) I'll be happy when that's done.

Date: 2012-01-20 12:48 pm (UTC)Those fraudulent mails are CRAZY. I get a lot of those from 'VISA' and 'Paypal', I never open them. If you think someone hacked your credit card, just log into your bank account online and check the last transactions. But I understand that it's stressful! *hug*

Date: 2012-01-20 01:46 pm (UTC)I first had to go to the 'districthuis'
then go back home and wait for the local cop to make sure I actually lived there
and then go back to the 'districthuis' with the PIN-code of my ID,
which I've just done so the information on my current ID is in order.
While I was there I asked for a new ID somewhere next month because my old one would expire in March. Pffff So everything urgent is done, I only have to collect my new ID when it's finished but that's something for next month.
"-just log into your bank account online-"
True, in usual circumstances I would have done that first but...
The card-reader was still at my own place and I was too worried to remember the bank office is just around the corner *fails* It won't happen again *pats the card-reader in her pocket*
I blame it on the late hour I noticed the mail (around midnight)....
Yes yes, any reason = a good reason *sheepish look*
